Rio de Janeiro is a stunning
city, sitting betweens sandy bays and forest clad hillsides.
Feel the sand between your toes on Copacabana and Ipanema
Beaches, take the cable car up to Sugarloaf Mountain and admire
the view across to the towering statue of Christ the Redeemer on Corcovado.
Brazil has
thousands of miles of beaches.
Imagine stunning white sandy bays lined with sand dunes and palm
trees. Some are well developed into chic beach resorts - others
are remote, pristine and rarely trodden.
The Costa Verde, to the west of
Rio, has a range of beaches and island accommodations from
hostels to exotic and exclusive hotels. Particularly popular are
the colonial gem of Paraty
and the trendy resort of Buzios.
Spanning the border between Argentina and Brazil, the
Iguaçu Falls are hailed by
many as the most spectacular on Earth. 5000 cubic metres of
water plunge over the kilometre long lip every second creating a
sight of unrivalled power and beauty. From the Brazilian side
there is an excellent rigid inflatable boat ride that takes you
right to the base (and even under) the falls.
Salvador da Bahia is the
African heart of Brazil, retaining much of the music, cuisine
and spiritual beliefs of the slaves brought to work in Brazils
sugarcane fields. Music and dance rhythms bring the streets to
life and a number of excellent beaches are immediately
accessible.
The
Pantanal is easily the most spectacular wetland area
in the Americas, arguably in the world. A system of marshes,
lakes and rivers forms a natural ecosystem that sustains a
fabulous concentration of wildlife, from giant river otters to
anacondas. Many believe this region is better suited to seeing
wildlife than the Amazon due to the fact that it is fairly open
and not obscured with trees. Also see details of our small
group tour to the
Pantanal & Guapore Valley in July 07.
You would stay in a comfortable
eco-lodge within the region from where the following activities
are available; bird watching, boating, bush walks, canoeing, eco
– tourism, piranha fishing, horse back riding, nature walks,
photography and swimming.
The Amazon
- the largest rainforest with the world's mightiest river
running through it. it is more to countless species of plants,
insects and birds and other creatures. Visit our
Amazon Lodge page to find out
more about the kind of accommodation that we can arrange for
you.
